Flanders this is for you......"I want to sleep with common people, common people like you"....as long as you don't make me wear a condom.....

Right....so tomorrow you'll get a proper what I've seen in Seattle blog.....but for now this is a clear cut anthropology, gender biaised blog...

The difference between British men and American men in my(very small)personal experience so far:

Damn, here come words I'd never in my life thought I would say/type,  please American boys...you need to chat less!  You talk too much, there is no need to fill every bit of silence with your endless chatter.  Never did I think I would welcome the sweet, sweet uncommunicative silence of the British man, the rudeness, the general dismissiveness and the complete lack of disinterest in what I have to say. (or is this just what I've got used to?)

...please, please, please, tell me there is something inbetween....

Secondly, what is it with your sensitivity, too much therapy?  Man up!!! Stop whining about all your aches and pains. I don't want to hear the first time we meet; that you were adopted, your back hurts from a massage, you were brought up in a single parent family, or your theory behind why your last girlfriend dumped you.  Bottom line if you expect a girl to treat you with respect you got to respect yourself, you want a girl to treat you like a man act like a man not whine like a teenage girl.  Stop taking everything so personally and if I offend you, tell me I've offended you, please.  Use your words, they come out of the same hole you drink and eat with.  Angst is a luxury of teenagers....if you're over 20 you do not get the right to be angsty....grow the fuck up....(this is not just targeted at you American men either)  Biological determinism my arse.

I'm so bored of grown men who act like children....what a waste of your life if you spend all of it like a child.  You know being an adult is fun too....give it a try....

Ok I know I'm all for hedonistic enjoyment, but I also know realistically that there is pro's and con's to this.  I'm practical I know that when my money runs out I will have to get a job to fund my next exploit or exploitation, because I'm an adult and I'm responsible for what happens to me and me alone.

Finally I desperately miss sarcasm, good, clean, nasty, making fun of others sarcasm.  I had to laugh on my own today (much to the filthy looks of 'said parent') when in the EMP a mother talking to her children said "that's Jimmy Hendrix he died young, he did drugs, drugs are bad".  I really wanted to reply "yeah but don't you think it contributed to his incredible and unbeatable creative music genius, so therefore drugs aren't really that bad are they??"  It(sarcasm) doesn't really exist here,  another classic story...

I'm walking down a long train at Toronto to the front of the train (where the coach class sit)....it's a long train, long walk.  I turn to the guy walking next to me and say "god are we walking all the way to Vancouver?"  his reply...."no we're walking to the front of the train that's where the coach class sit".

If I have to explain the joke it's ceases to be funny and if I don't, I look like a stupid Aussie hick who actually thought we were walking to Vancouver.

Final comment it's generalisation Wednesday, I like to generalise midweek...tomorrow I promise to be more culturally and gender appropriate and cause way less offense.

  1. See, the error here is that you did not make your "walking to Vancouver" comment to a woman. She would immediately get it, comment in an equally charming sarcastic manner, and all would be right with the world. Welcome to the land of thick men. Wait, that sounds kind of dirty.
