Sleepless in Seattle .....it just got curiousier and curiousier

The day started off quite normally.....my hostel has these suggested touristy things you can do day by day so I thought I'd follow their guides.  So I walked down to Pike St. and walked around the markets (scene from Sleepless in Seattle apparently) which were really busy even though it was Memorial Day.  The markets are mostly indoors and it's pretty energetic and there is so much there from flowers, food, clothes and books.  After breakfast here, which has great food and three floors all overlooking the coastline.  This is where I met the coolest couple, Candace and Dave (from L.A.) who were brokering selling some vintage music equipment from an elderly gentlement they knew ...this was a fabulous story.  They also gave me some L.A. tips of places to go if I get down that far.
I took a picture of the first ever Starbucks then it was down through Post Alley past a slightly gross but interesting wall art.... this whole side of the building is covered in gum.

Then it was down through the shops on the docks then back up to Pioneer Square to have a coffee, there is coffee shops everywhere here.  Well it is Seattle home of Starbucks.

Then I got what was probably the most massive ferry I have ever been on and went across to Bainbridge Island (getting some great skyline pics of Seattle, straight from Frasier) which was such a beautiful place with some very expensive, posh houses to see.

Walked around to the Harbour Public House for some lunch and drinks and this is where the weird starting happening....

The view here was amazing and the food was really nice.  Met three locals two guys and a girl who had been partying quite heavily most of the day, then we were joined by one of the cooks from the restaurant who invited us back to his house for drinks....on the way there it was a long drive the girl and I decided to head back to the ferry, much to the annoyance of the guys who jumped out of the car at the dock and got into the other guys car....

.....a high speed chase ensued, jealous angry, upset girlfriend chasing boyfriend back to this cook's house somewhere in the deepest darkest hills of the island. Me sitting in the front of the car wondering what the hell I got myself into.  Arrived at house more drinking, more arguing...etc. etc. Direct from a scene of 'Deliverance' and knowing full well as the non-virgin foreigner I was going to die first and told my new 'friends' at least to return my corpse back to my parents if they could.  This is when I decided to get the hell out of there (and not be made to squeal like a piggie) and walk to the nearest ferry dock past a few motels that reeked of Norman Bates type establishments.  On my journey back the group I'd come with drove past and picked me up and it was back on the ferry, couple still arguing.  Realising only afterwards how drunk girl was that was driving, thanking the heavens above for once again getting me out of a dangerous situation. Girls gone wild aint got nothing on this broad...ahh love, passion and anger...what a mix.

Also making me think why do women persist with men who are just no good??  Who don't respect them, who don't even care or love them enough to attempt to make an effort.  Do men do this also, get involved with women who clearly don't feel the same way, plugging away at an almost futile option?  Or is it more specific to the female of the species?  Is it because we're taught all our lives that 'boys will be boys' and we should just endure, accepting less than the 100% we deserve?  Hmmm something to think about innit.

After they passed out in the back seat of the car, the last guy standing and I drove off the ferry parked the car and went drinking in Edmonds here
and somewhere else....not sure blurry time.  Then it was a very expensive taxi back to Seattle.

So today I lost a day due to hangover, I know annoyed at myself but going to sleep early and promising myself no more drink in Seattle after spending way too much cash and losing a day of touristy stuff, on the plus side what a story hey???

Tomorrow more sightseeing, more effort...I promise x
