What I did last week on my Summer Holidays 1.From Capitalism to Patriotism

It's been nearly a week since I wrote my blog, I know I'm just getting lazier and lazier....I am really starting to fight the constant urges that I need to go back to work....

Last Saturday I went shopping with Jen in a place called Santana Row, this place was amazing (if you're a material girl in a material world) for shopping!!!  It's a load of outlet store all put together in one place (think Stone's Corner-Aussie ref or Covent Garden -UK ref).  I know I don't have much cash(sub-text S.F.A) but this somehow goes by the wayside when you're near clothes and shoes.  It's all relative innit....if you can't afford to eat, you look better in the clothes.

For those of you who know me this is obviously said 'tongue in cheek' as besides art, booze, clothes and other cheeky vices (cue: divine 24 year olds) food and eating is one of my favourite pass times. No scratch that it's more than a hobby...it's a lifestyle choice.

So who would like to hire me as a food/art/wine/travel critic??? Come on!! Roll up! Roll up!

So even though it was as hot as hell and I was unbelievably hungover I got up and went shopping as promised.  Thank the stars for make-up to fill in the troughs and dark alcho circles under my eyes.  Reminder to self, don't mix drinks, don't ever drink something that is called A.M.F...(to rude to explain) and finally don't say to someone 10 years younger and the other gender, with more body weight "I can drink you under the table"...Lesson learnt, I can't and I didn't. (thanks for carrying me home)  Man what happened to my quick resilience, me thinks it disappeared with my twenties.

Sunday, July the 4th... another baking hot day in California - this explains the perkiness and chilled out behaviour in this neck of the woods.

Now say what you like, but I love Americana and I love the parades over here, they are just incredible!  The floats, the energy and this particular one was no different.  I love everything about them the over the top clapping and cheering, the Queen of the Parade (very different from the Pride Queen ;)but still gorgeous) with her huge dress and tiara, the marching bands and the cheerleaders.  These parades are an ideal American social study.  I got another opportunity to see Jen sing, (the national anthem this time),I have to say I was damn impressed... man that bird can reach the highest notes....hello goosebumps. This additionally comes from a place of slight jealousy and pride as I can't carry a tune to save my life.  I mean I am completely and totally aware of the fact that I am utterly tone deaf.  I am not one of those people you see at karaoke bars or on X Factor that has a delusional idea that I can sing.  I am not completely without talent....hee hee, it's just not singing.
