Finally got inside Stanford...Art Museum, finished Frank Meeink's autobiography all this in one day.....'look at the brains on Brad'

This was my third time back to Stanford and this is where it is important that you research information whilst traveling around.

This art museum is shut on Mondays and Tuesdays (heads up) and open late on Thursdays.

 <------Portrait of Mrs Stanford.

Despite the fact that I'm mostly chilling and not doing the intense tourist thing the days are literally flying by.  I have now three or so weeks left in this big old country before I head to the land down under.  Getting my head around the fact I will have to work again....it's been a while.  I mean I quit my job and finished end of Feb and besides my NHS and factory stint (ahhhh Reed employment, still haven't really properly thanked you for that one) I've been doing sweet f.a....work wise.

Stanford Art Museum is pretty impressive, it's free for one... :) the building is really architecturally fascinating, they have one of the largest collections of Rodin sculptures I have ever seen and some pretty amazing European, American and contemporary art installations and pieces.  I think Mrs Stanford would still be very impressed.

For me it is mostly about the art.  Oh sure there is the food, drink and shopping as well, but art she's a big favourite.  Like an eccentric old Aunty with lots of silver bangles and flowing clothes living in a house with lots of plants and light that I just have to visit or I miss her terribly.

After walking around the gallery I sat in the Rodin Sculpture Garden had something to eat and finished in one sitting the 'Autobiography of a Recovering Skinhead'.  This book was such an easy read in the sense of 'I just couldn't put it down' way. Difficult in the 'did you really, hold someone's throat down with your Dr Marten, so your mate could pull his hammer out of the guy's skull' way.  There was quite a few times when I was actually crying whilst reading this book but it also made me laugh out loud as well at the complete stupidity and total absence of rational thought of most of things he did.  If you get a chance definitely read this, it is a very inspiring read of human spirit and tenacity and will make you feel more than a little humble.  Especially, if you think you got it hard or, if in your life you're too bone idol to even change the smallest things about yourself that you know deep down aren't right.

This guy would be an excellent and interesting anthropology study, I found not only him but the sense of community he got from a neo-Nazi group(of all things) incredibly fascinating.....(end of book report ;))

So in the next few weeks I'm thinking I'll be heading up to SF city more get some updated pics and maybe head down to L.A....wishing I could do the Las Vegas thing but think that might just be outside of my budgetary constraints... ;)
