The little red van that could.....and did....and came back again....

Today is already Friday...where has this week gone??

I know...for most of it I was literally back stroking in my personal swimming pool of self-pity due to illness.  I can't remember the last time I was this sick so I think I was a bit moany to say the least when I got struck down with this cough/cold thing.  Why is it when you get sick all you want to do is lay in bed, watch rubbish t.v. and get your ma to bring you food and a constant flow of cold flannels/face clothes for your forehead.  No matter how old you are you still yearn for that nurturing support and you almost regress into this weak, whiny creature of "I want my mum" sniff sniff cue: much self pity and patheticness.

Well enough of that...so what have I been doing?

Monday and Tuesday was a write off (see above)and Wednesday it was off out with my hostess Ro and her Spanish relatives, who are visiting to do some touristy stuff. We walked around the harbour near where she lives which although beautiful in Winter would be just incredible in Summer with outdoor seating in the cafes, out door ocean pools to swim in and rock pools to explore and walk around.

Part of me does wish I would be here for the Australian Summer to get to experience this but my decision has been made. (back to this later) After this it was up to Mt. Keira to check out the view from the lookout, it was pretty cool to say the least.

I drove up the mountain in Ro's little old red Toyota van, which I have fallen madly in love with...well it is red.  This van is pretty old and is an automatic and doesn't always start on the first go, but I think it's just fab, and who cares that you have to lean forward going up hills :) and it's red....had I mentioned that?  Women will understand the importance of the car colour thing...I think it is an oestrogen based scenario.  I can remember feeling devastated when I found out my first car, a Mazda 323 hatchback was going to be....brown.  It took me a long while and many unicorn stickers to get attached to that car (hippy times of old, please don't judge).

It made it up Mt. Keira, burning through petrol like a young, sexy wife on a shopping trip going through her old husband's credit cards.  (I need a picture of her and I together)

On Thursday we drove it (she should have a name) down to Sydney, where we walked around Darling Harbour (my first time, told you shit Aussie) then off to the Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge for some typical tourist pics.

Oh yeah good news today I got my medicare card...my back is still hurting from the removal of my left kidney in exchange and I'm preparing emotionally for the loss of sacrificing my soul...ha ha yeah like I have one, I hear you say...but seriously it was pretty bloody hard to get, the card, not my soul.

On Sunday the City to Surf is on and I'd quite like to check that out..but will see how the energy reserves are going.

Next blog....I will get out and about more, maybe down to the beach...(well I am surrounded by them)and I might just have an outpouring of emotion, and I will discuss 'that decision'.

<-----Luna Park with more of those 'soul stealing rides' ;)..have I been there...no I haven't...
