After doing the very typical tourist thing of walking on and taking photos of the Golden Gate Bridge with good friends it was off to Sausilito.
Sausilito is like Greenwich/Blackheath by the sea...to live/own property here you would need to have loads of cash, or be very lucky in love...it's beautiful, has amazing scenery, fab delis and brilliant little boutique type shops. It was great to get more time to spend here as last time it was a bit of a whirlwind tour.
I went here with Jen, her son and his girlfriend on yet another sunny Californian day. Fish and chips were had (I enjoyed -better than English in my opinion...ooo dem are fighting words) saltwater taffy was tried (my first time I'm on the fence about this)and shops were visited.
I have really enjoyed my second time around in California although it has been very different from my first time here, which was heavily touristy. You just got to do it.
The advantage of being friends with local types (yes you know who you are ;)) definitely has its advantages...
....I have seen things that I know the normal tourist would not get the time, chance to see or maybe even be aware of. Things off the beaten track. For this I will be eternally grateful. To my beautiful Californian friends, thank you for the opportunities I have had, by staying with and hanging out with you. This was what I loved about NY as well and being hosted by the gorgeous Lynne in Brooklyn (both of which I loved!!! Lynne and Brooklyn). I am lucky I got to start and end my trip with people who are pretty fucking incredible.
The generosity of people on this trip has been outstanding and wonderful and to be honest I have only found American folk to be friendly, helpful and open. Look at me getting all Melisancholy, it's because I'm aware my American part of my adventure is rapidly coming to an end. After arriving in NY nearly three months ago the time has just sped by at a frenetic pace....not long now and I will be in Sydney....oooooo....
