After a couple (read lazy 5) of days chilling and just walking around locally and getting stuck on express trains (pic of Japanese Gardens in San Mateo) I was taken on a Napa wine train tour by my gorgeous friend, Jen.
Now this was incredible and I felt very spoilt, in my new dress...that I just had to wear (this is how it is for girls and new clothes)even if it's not the right weather you just got to wear your new things.
We headed out in the morning reasonably early to drive to Napa. This was the first day I had seen since I got here that was not super hot and super sunny, but as soon as we got on that train that sunshine just came on out, just for us.
It's weird after weeks of rain to be in place that has such great weather all the time. Even when you talk about bad weather here it is completely not comparable to say other cities I've been in...sorry London. It's like slightly grey clouds and a bit of mist that lasts for a couple of hours. No wonder why Californians are just so damn sometimes annoyingly friendly you just couldn't be an arse in this weather. Well you could, I have given it a whirl...
This train ride to one of the more well known wineries was one of the most incredible things I have ever done. The thing is once you get to know me I am pretty easy to win over ;)
Easy steps to Melissa's heart and happiness, please see below.
Amazing scenery with interesting things to look at(photo ops), good food and wine/booze (to keep the evil Malicous at bay)and a little bit of an educational experience (to keep the girl's mind active). So for me this was a perfect girl-date, if Jen wasn't married and such a good friend I totally would've put out, hee hee.
Yes men...it is really that easy to woo a girl...it's called forethought.
....back to blog.
Although I must admit when the guy was explaining the grape growing/wine process to us I was tempted to say "yeah, blah blah blah, just pour the damn wine bitch", in my most loud obnoxious Aussie twang....however I did learn the most important thing about maturing wines is that..... ah no who am I kidding? All I learnt is that good food and wine rocks!!
After an incredible three course meal (yes there was pork involved) and some lovely wine, it was off the train to do some shopping, consume, buy, appropriate....I just can't help myself.
Oh and I can't forget I met a beauty queen who had the sash for the 'most outstanding teenager' award. Jen thankfully asked what made her so outstanding (if I had of asked it would have just sounded kind of lewd) the response was she was kind, generous in the community (nope not in the way I'm generous)had done some charity stuff and had an excellent grade point average. See I was thinking of that whole Breakfast Club line....hmmmm outstanding hee hee.
Next my weekend in the sunshine....
