So I know I've been a bit slack with the updates of late - mostly because I've been doing too much and partly cause I've been lazy.
So on Thursday I caught the subway to 14th and walked the Highline which was an amazing thing to see, this is a definite must do if you're in New York.
Suggest you go on a weekday when it's quieter, apparently on the weekends it's so packed that you can't walk through it for tourists. It used to be a rail line for NY freight trains before it was converted into a park. The view from here is incredible the wild flowers are beautiful and they're now extending the highline and installing art pieces. I just thought this was breath taking and the ingenuity demonstrated to use an old railway structure in such a 'pro green way'.....brilliant!!!
So I walked along this till I reached West 25th, where the exhibition...Size does Matter, was located. This exhibit challenges your perceptions of...guess what...size, my faves in the exhibition were the huge table and chairs which I walked under and felt like a kid again and the Obama family sculpted on the end of a needle...very impressed at this exhibit and best thing, it was free....
Then after lunch at the Empire Diner (where my avocado and bacon sandwich request was met with 'you're a weirdo looks' and the question "are you sure you don't want cheese on it") very Americana, which unfortunately is closing soon....it was on to Central Park for a nap (well I am at that age) I met Lynne and friends at the Museum of Arts and Design

The MAD is currently hosting an exhibition called Dead or Alive, where the artists have used once organic, alive objects to create sculpture and art pieces. The MAD is free on Thursdays between 6-9pm. My favorite pieces would have to be the bug wallpaper and bug dollhouse...very pretty and made me consider the potential uses of bugs in some of the places I may be staying in and the cow motorbike. A complete cow skeleton built over a working motorbike. This piece was created by the artist to make us think about our over consumption of meat, which I thought about over beef tacos for dinner.
So yesterday I sorted out all my dates for trains and accommodation for the next part of my journey through up to Canada, across and back down to San Francisco. This was very exciting but slightly nerve wracking as a big wad of cash was absorbed in a space of a couple of hours of my bookings. I'm also slightly nervous about moose...but you know what that say 'if you see a moose give it juice and then you can hang loose' .....they don't actually say that but I just love the sound of the word moose and words that rhyme with moose....I'm hopefully going to get a pic with a moose and a mountie to show on my blog.
Today I was supposed to visit Coney Island but was too tired so maybe tomorrow I can recreate the Warriors movie scene and go out to playay.....
